Watch for this when upgrading iPhone. When I got my 12 Pro I lost about 20 music video iTune downloads purchased over several years as the file is either no longer available on iTunes or has been replaced by a new digitally remastered version. Furious that Apple support thought this perfectly reasonable. So after haggling about a month they just killed the chat and I had to pay again to download these files, I even showed them previous evidence that I had paid. So when you transfer all your data from old iPhone to new, you might see some unplayable video files, these are the ones that have a new version that you now have to pay for. Thanks Apple, I pay £1200 for a new phone and you screw me over on this, no wonder you profits are so massive. Thanks for listening to my rant! Just bought 14 Pro and praying I don’t have same issue.

This is likely not Apple doing this more so the publisher of the content removing it and not allowing downloads anymore. They probably released the remastered versions like you said and removed the old ones.

Yeah, just frustrating to have to pay again but I guess the contend provider decides on that, I just think I should be able to retain my paid for old version and not have it taken off me ☹️

Usually you can but I'm guessing the publisher completely removed it. Apple won't give you a free download for the new one because it's not theirs to give out.

The importance of removing DRM coming into play. Also backup downloaded files somewhere. Customers also need to protect their own contents just like those publishers do.

It wasn't taken from you. You neglected to make a copy of it and want to blame someone else.

Very helpful feedback, thanks . . . Sadly I am not very savvy with these things and assumed everything is saved in my iCloud account, I am not blaming anyone, just expressing my frustration.

No media you purchase through iTunes is saved in your iCloud account. None whatsoever.
