Hi there,

my employer operates its own Exchange server. I have been storing my emails in a local folder for years, which is why I have been waiting to switch to New Outlook. Until a year ago, local folders (like Exchange) were not yet supported. I understand that this has now been resolved.

But: Can I be sure that my existing local folders will be transferred to the new Outlook? Unfortunately, I just received a message saying that New Outlook will be used the next time I start the program...

I tried with an old machine first. It seems, that local folders are imported and moved. And they stay in this new subfolder, if I return to legacy. Still not happy about moving to New Outlook...

Local folders should be fine... it's shared folders that still aren't supported after all this time (shared calendars are still hit & miss as well).

I don't know what MS is doing with Outlook, but it sure would be nice if they put some engineers onto the project and get the darn app finished already. Even if you're on a Windows machine, different versions of Outlook perform differently and support different features. It's truly insane how convoluted the app has become.

The same can be said with other apps in the office 365 family, Mac versions tend to have less or different features then their windows version. I'm not defending it, just pointing it out.

Just to make everyone feel even better, Microsoft collects data in outlook, so there's a flow of telemetry on your usage within outlook.
