Hi all :)

I have been using OS X for probably 10 years now and I've never seen this before, but my mac is very forgetful. I'm running Mountain Lion (10.8.1) on a Retina Macbook Pro, and OSX can't seem to remember many settings after a restart

For example, if I change my desktop background, the background reverts to the original upon restart. Customizations to dock size and icon size also are reverted.

Furthermore, when i'm entering text into fields in Safari, oftentimes the text that I'm typing doesn't appear until I tab over to the next field.

What could this be?

Thanks for your help :)

Sounds like a permissions problem. Check out repairing permissions on your primary drive.
