Forgot how to merge duplicate contacts

Its been a while since I have merged duplicate contacts and have forgotten how to do it. Would someone please give me the steps for that procedure. I have duplicates of all of my contacts. I use iCloud. The duplicates are only on my phone and not the cloud.
