I don't think there is very much you can do without the password.

Only work around I can think of is reinstalling the OS and then hooking your old HD and puling your data off of it if you haven't encrypted it with FileVault.

If you have encrypted your data then say bye bye to it.

wow the spelling!!!

The above poster is correct, you might have to reinstall your OS and it could be bye bye data.

You can reset the admin password using a utility on the restore DVD without reinstalling. If you only have one user account setup on the machine then this is the admin account.

Of course if you have multiple user accounts and one of the other accounts is an admin account then log into that account and reset the password for your user account.

Maybe you are just mistyping the password
Serious answers are above.

Here is how you can do it

  • Boot into single user mode (press Command-S at power on)
  • Type fsck -fy
  • Type mount -uw /
  • Type launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.DirectoryServices.plist
  • Type dscl . -passwd /Users/username password, replacing username with the targeted user and password with the desired password.
  • Reboot
