That's why I never changed mine from alpine. I just turn off SSH with sbsettings.

SSH should come back on after a reboot. Just change your password and leave SSH on. It may come in very handy if you ever run into problems down the road.
After every reboot ?
Wouldn't it just be easier to write it down somewhere ?
