Format "category" axis in EXCEL 2008

IHow do I make one column of my sheet be my x-axis with nice numbers along the axis; that is like most graphs made with other applications. Excel doesn't seem to allow me to format the x-axis. I need something like 0, 10 20, 30 etc. not the numbers in my column.
