Format duel HD MacBook Pro Help??

Hi everyone ok im looking to do a full format of my Mac just to generally clean everything up as it got a little slow recently.

Im just not sure how to go about this as I have 2 Drives in the machine, the first is a 64gb SSD which is in an optibay where the superdive used to be, this is what OSX and all my Apps are on.

Then I have a 1TB regular HDD in the normal place which I belive supplys my Home/User side? All of my Itunes (140gb) and pics plus documents are stored on here.

About my set up

Late 2010 15inch MacBook Pro

2.4 GHz Intel Core i5

NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 256 MB

OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion).

Any advice on what to do would be much appreciated, im not the most tech savvy I must say!!

A format is almost certainly not necessary.

If your machine has slowed recently, what has changed recently? Installed any new apps?

It would make far more sense to diagnose the problem than do random stuff.

Nothing has changed and I havent any new apps, things just feel slower so thought it would help to format and reinstall everything fresh. Its worked well with a PC in the past so assumed it would be the same for a Mac.

Reinstalling the OS works with Mac OS X too, but maybe take a look here before doing that: Performance Tips For Mac OS X
