Formatting a Hard Drive

Hello. I just got a MyBook from Western Digital and when I do Get Info on the hard drive it says the Format is Macintosh PC Exchange (MS-DOS) Now I am having trouble moving some files from my powerbook over to the harddrive. My iMovie's always say there is a folder named "icon" that has too long of a name.

Should I do something to the harddrive? If so, how?

if you are going to use it only with the mac, connect it to your puter, and use disk utility to reformat it.
