I've been having several issues running Final Cut Pro 6, so the guy at Apple told me to format the computer and re-install all the software to see if it's a hardware problem or software problem. But he failed to mention how to format the macbook. He just said use the disk utility.

Can someone give me exact directions?

Thanks.
Jim

providing its a clean install you want pop in the cd hold down c key when booted up go into disk utility click on the disk you want to format click on the erase tab top of window click on the volume thing
choose hfs+(journaled)then click erase that will format it close window and then carry on with the install

Make sure you use the disk and go into utilitys

Thanks. Just tried that, but once in the "erase" page everything is dimmed gray and won't let me click on anything...
