i am selling a rev.a macbook pro for the new penryn macbook pro and i wanted to know how to format the old mbp so that when the buyer first starts up the comp it will be like when you first a mac (you can enter your name etc.) would i just format and then not restart after intalling...just switch it off...?

any help would be appreciated

do an erase and install and shut it down when the Setup Assistant appears.

i havent tried this but i think the intro movie and setup always restarts if the laptop is shutdown before the Setup Assistant is completed because an invisible file ".AppleSetupDone" in /private/var/db/ is not created.

more info here

okay cool thanks i just wanted to make sure...that is what i thought i had to do

Hi Ritze I'd be grateful if you would confirm whether this goes ok; I will be selling mine shortly.

Cheers

K.
