Formatting new Hard Drive on my iMac

Here's the deal...

Just put a new Hard Drive into my Imac Dual Core. I Know I need to start up from the CD drive to format the disk... I am holding down the "C" key at startup but it isn't reading the drive.

Theories?

Is your install disc a retail disk?

Try holding down the "Option" key and see if the drive comes up as well. From there you can select it.

Holding down the Option key had no affect, although I was able to eject the disk from the drive. I REALLY don't want to open it up again... What a pain in the A$$!
