Long exposures at the beach :D

Can allready see too many HDR photos with the 10-20mm in my head for that one.

How about "Underground(unknown locations to the general public) places in your city." That would be cool.

Hey, I just posted pictures in a separate thread that would qualify for "Making the best of bad light". :)

My three from the ones we suggested before are
Alone
Mysterious
Technology

Dreamy

Hot/Heat

Attraction

Edit: I guess those can all be seen as connected. Just realized it. When I wrote them I wasn't honestly thinking that way. Funny.

Is that the same as "My neighborhood?"

Flags
Hands

I don't think so. To me, my neighborhood is Lakewood. That's where my home is. It's part of the Tacoma, Washington suburbs~10 miles from downtown Tacoma. Lots of stuff to shoot downtown, but not in Lakewood. We did My Town in the original Challenge and landmarks came up as a topic once.

For those at least interested, please help me pick one of these to represent the idea when we go to the poll stage.

My Neighborhood

Unknown/Unusual Landmarks

"Underground" Places in your city

I don't think they're mutually exclusive, why not have all three? The middle one might need retitling though. A landmark, unless you're looking at the non tangible sort is, according to the Mac dictionary:

"an object or feature of a landscape or town that is easily seen and recognized from a distance, esp. one that enables someone to establish their location"

Unusual, fine, sounds good. An unknown landmark isn't much of a landmark, though, is it? ;) :)

Another suggestion:

Age

I should be around for this Challenge. Great!

I (guess) I'd like to see "Unusual Landmarks" on the poll. Although I won't vote for it -- can't immediately think of anything to shoot for it -- it would be interesting to see what others contribute.

Ditto for "Underground(unknown locations to the general public) places in your city."

In my opinion, these are both rather narrow topics, which make it difficult to shoot specifically for the topic. As I recall, one of the rules of the challenges is that we aren't supposed to dig out images from archives.

But maybe just it's my newbie insecurity shining through!

I'll also point out that the guidelines for the topic states that "Topics should be general enough to apply to at the wide range of photography talent on the MR Digital Photography forum."

Perhaps we could consider:
* Landmarks (which not only could, but should, include unusual landmarks)
* My Neighborhood or My City (which could, and should, include underground). (Would we want to specify "XX miles from my home???")

Thanks for letting me offer my thoughts! Others, who agree, OR disagree, should voice their opinions, too.

I think I'm going to just go with Landmarks for the disputed item. The definition at Dictionary.com is nice and general. We like general.

[land-mahrk]
–noun
1. a prominent or conspicuous object on land that serves as a guide,// a distinguishing landscape feature marking a site or location://

2. something used to mark the boundary of land.

3. a building or other place that is of outstanding historical, aesthetic, or cultural importance,//

Here is the general list I'm looking at for the poll. If you really like/dislike one, say so.

Long exposures at the beach
Alone
Technology
Mysterious
Inertia
Colors
Change
Dreamy
Attraction
mass transit
rain
yards
Flags
Hands
Age

Dale

Edit: I'll open the poll tonight with voting through the 11th. West Coast time. Voting will be a "Pick Your Top Three" deal.

Dale- Can I suggest we keep this list and resurrect the ones that weren't the top three for voting on the next go round? Just a thought Thanks for herding all of us cats!:)
