first post here ... great board!

i recently bought a 22" Acer 2216wdb for use with a dedicated ProTools machine (G4 Quicksilver, System 9.2, ProTools 5.1.1, which won't run on System X, video card ATY,BlueStoneParent). when i boot up with the new monitor, i can see the startup screen, the good ol' OS 9 extensions load, i get a glimpse of the desktop -- then the screen blacks out and i get a floating box saying "Input Not Supported."

this monitor works fine on my other Quicksilver (video card NVIDIA GeForce2 MX) and on my wife's Mac Mini, but after trying every recommended resolution available, i still can't get it to run on the system 9 machine. searches for Mac drivers at the Acer support site have been fruitless.

i know there's not a lot of love for Acer around here (been lurking awhile), but it was on sale for $199, and the lure of having horizontal real estate for recording/editing/mixing audio tracks plunged me into a state of temporary insanity!

the ProTools rig is stable and works great for what it is: an old but well-tuned recording tool. so i'm not inclined to tinker with it too much. but i realize the computer and the monitor are two generations apart ... wondered if any of you good folks might have any ideas on how to make 'em play nice.
