I have my safari set to always open new windows in tabs. Why? I like tabs and HATE window clutter!

However forum spy always ignores these instructions and if I normally click a link, BOOM its in a new window.

I need to right click and say new tab. Not fun.

How can we make forum spy follow the rules?

I just hold command down and click to open them up in a new tab.

Slightly faster than right-click?

Odd. I don't have that issue. I click on a link in Forum Spy and it opens a new tab. Not sure if I even did anything to make this happened. Always has.

Paste this into terminal

Code:
defaults write com.apple.Safari TargetedClicksCreateTabs -bool true

It works for me, all links clicked that normally open new windows create a new tab instead.
