How is this possible? This was demonstrated in a few 3.0 videos and pictures as seen on the web. I see it's possible to do via email, but I want to do it via text!

it will be possible once at&t enables mms, assuming you are on at&t. if you have another carrier supporting mms you should be able to do it. from maps if you click on your location and click the more info arrow there should be an option to share your location

Thanks! I just thought about that after posting that it may be MMS exclusive.

Confirmed that this does work on O2, so no reason why not with AT&T when you guys are finally given the ability to use MMS. You can also email too if need be.

When you share your location, it's attached to an MMS as a vCard. Then upon receiving and opening the vCard, I found that it contained the closest address match from Google and a map URL, which when followed, took me to the location I sent myself (which was my current GPS location).
