I have a yahoo email, and instead of checking my mail over the internet at yahoo.com, how can I get it forwarded directly to my MAIL application.

Sorry for the ignorance, but thanks in advance for any help you provide.

pretty sure you can't do this w/o a pay thing through yahoo
as yahoo won't let you check the account through external programs
(one great reason to switch to gmail as i've done)

someone might have a new way to do this now though-
i know i tried to do this a few years ago to no avail-

so- sorry

really...man that stinks, this is actually for my mom, and I just made her this yahoo email...I should ahve used gmail...dang!

Anyone else know how to do this?? with yahoo

You might be able to have yahoo forward all incoming mail to any old POP3 or IMAP address you may have lying around. Otherwise just get rid of the Yahoo account and sign your mom up for Gmail.

I have to keep the yahoo for now, cause we just ordered her new macbook using it.

I just want to have the email forwared to the mail application...not another address.

You can order Yahoo Mail Plus for $20 a year, which includes POP access. Don't know why you would though, as others have already said, GMail offers the service for free.

So, to sum it up...if I get a gmail account I can have my email automatically sent to the MAIL application on my mac without any problems?

...and if this is the case, how do I go about setting that up?

Thanks!

Somewhere on the gmail site you will find step by step instructions on how to set it up with an email client such as Mail.app
