With all the talk about metered usage, I was looking around for a good Internet usage tracking program and found SurplusMeter a few days ago. Only issue is it is a PPC app only. Notice today the dev came out with an update that makes the app a universal binary.
The main app does not need to be running to track your usage. It runs a small user.agent all the time that does the tracking and the main app only needs to be started to view the stats or change settings. So far, this is the best app I have found to track Internet usage.
