I was all set to do a clean reinstall of Tiger yesterday, and I put in what I thought was Disc 1. I was informed that no, it was Disc 2, and to please put in Disc 1. No problem, since I must have picked up the wrong one. I put in the other one, and I got the same message. I looked on the DVD labels and both said "Disc 2".

Has anyone heard of something like this happening? I didn't pick up my MBP at a store, as it was a refurb, and so I don't have a paper receipt that I know of. There are two apple stores here, however, and I hope I can go down there and get the discs exchanged.

You should still have an invoice of some sort. Just call Apple and explain.

That's strange.

I'm sure any Apple store would help you here, it shouldn't be a problem.

Question: Would the iBook restore DVDs that I also have work (and that I've already used once before on my iBook), or would it be a different product key and all that?

It won't work. 2 reasons

1. It will only work on that iBook
2. That restore DVD is gonna be the power pc version of the OS

Wasn't sure about the first one, but the second one is a no-brainer that somehow didn't occur to me. Thank you :).

An update:

After 50 minutes on the phone, I was able to get Apple to mail me the correct install discs for Tiger. I was told that they would ship overnight, but that it would probably be two days before they arrived.

Tomorrow is one week, and they have not arrived. I'm getting increasingly upset by the lack of resolution.
