I installed Mavericks (had a few issues), had to wipe OSX partition and re install.

However now im getting pretty severe lag spikes on win 7 playing BF3...

early 2013 base 15inch retina macbook pro.

Anyone know why? Havent tried SMC reset but i thought that was only to do with the 2012 ones.

cheers.

yea. I play lol and i used to be at 60+ frames/sec now it bogs down to 15/20. tried smc reset. still sucks

I was answering to the OP, which is playing BF3 on win 7 ;)

But yeah, mavericks is pretty new, so for OS X games there is a possibility that not all games will run well right away.

Future OS or games updates should help.

Probably heat throttling brcause of a newer efi version. Download afterburner and monitor the frequency and heat.

So its a universal problem after Mavericks? I find it strange that a new OSX affects the gaming in windows... very odd.

As an SMC reset doesnt work what other options are there? Could it be the new nvidia drivers from the other day?

as I'm currently on iMac so i can't confirm the issue directly (no lag here by the way)
but my friends on rmbp (those who updated) reporting serious issues
like kernel panic and constant freezes

I don't play in OSX but in Windows. Still I got some weird issues in Mavericks after the Update (battery was drained too fast and no reset could help).

I formatted the partition and reinstalled Mavericks from scratch and this helped to solve every issue there.

Yeah my battery percentage seems to freeze and doesnt drain? However after a restart it shows up as say 80%.... So weird man.

But yeah annoying about the gaming in windows as its one of the reasons i got the 15inch. (student, no room for 1000fps nerd machine).

This is from a fresh install aswell!

The games that I play on OSX definitely took a 10-20 fps hit after upgrading to Mavericks.

Framerate drops are pretty standard for the first few versions of a new OS. Happens almost every time. Should be fixed within a few weeks.

As for the Windows 7 thing, that's beyond me.
