freaking out , lost imovie when unplugged drive

I was editing an imovie project, and I unplugged the hard drive (external) by accident. When I plugged it back in, the clips are in the trash, and the edit points are all lost. How can I restore the edited clips (I have the originals)

I think you mean Command+S. Too much time in the windows world?
