Randy's House
Took my old reliable E3c's out this morning at 8:30 so I could hear the door knock (expecting an overnight from Crucial).

10:00 I hear the rumble of a diesel truck and see the guy driving off.

Sticker on my door "attempted delivery"

How did you attempt delivery, with an effing Ouija board?

You have to knock, asshat.

I yelled at UPS and supposedly they are sending a message to him to bring it back.

Blah!

Some people just do things half-assed. It's a shame.

The thing is, he had to TAKE THE TIME TO WRITE OUT THE ATTEMPTED DELIVERY SLIP.

They just called. Now I am stuck here until freaking 1-2 p.m.

I get 4-5 FedEx packages a day, never a slip. Ever.

This guy effs me all the time.

Beat him up.

Just kidding. Don't get yourself arrested.

I've heard they are Usually Pretty Sh*tty to work with, and also that they provide Undeniably Pathetic Service.

I'll shut up. :D

I've had good luck with them at a residence, my house. They were friendly, reliable, on-time, updated the online tracking accordingly, unlike FedEx.
Just depends on the driver I guess.

You have to put a sign on your door:

UPS/FEDEX: I AM HERE! KNOCK LOUDLY!

I do this whenever I know a package is arriving the next morning... and the UPS guy always damn near beats my door down.

It so varies from driver to driver and hub to hub...
Here, FedEx sucks, and always leaves a slip (though they will leave the package if you leave a note...which the back of the slip they leave says they aren't supposed to---but I'm not complaining).

UPS will always leave the package (unless a sig is required).

But, I have had both of them assume no one is home just because its the middle of the day, and not knock at all.

Our UPS man just drops the package on the porch and runs...

We have a somewhat large dog that bit him in the ass last year. Ever since then, he (the UPS man) has stopped knocking and acknowledging his presence anymore than he has to. :D

I've done that before.

Dog, bite = if I was UPS I would permanently embargo the address.

There is no way I will do business with someone that can't control a threatening dog.

Not to be species-prejudiced, I would react the same way to a tiger, wolverine or mongoose, but I rarely see those in homes in our area...

what, putting that sign or beating down doors? :D

and yes, UPS sucks.

try living in a apartment with no buzzer so no one can ever get ahold of me. and even though the door is broken and they could just walk in, i guess they cant do that. :(

My last place of work, I loved them - reliable and awesome.

If you are at a residence?

Fuhgettaboutit.

Add to that UPS surcharges for residential delivery.

I am lucky, my boss allows us to receive packages at work. As long as we don't have packages arriving daily. :)

Well I used to get all of my stuff from work, but now that I'm working for myself again...

Get this - he comes back and I BARELY hear him. No wonder I missed the first knock.

Anyway, my RAM is snugly working inside my G5 as we speak.

I think you need the BFDB

--

Big Freakin' Door Bell :D

with a nice big sign:
Courier: Ring bell for signature

A lot of graphic designers in my area use an outdoor storage box (like a picnic cooler sort of thing) for non-signature deliveries.

Glad to hear that you got your RAM.

Did not now that that you went independent. Congrats.

I hear ya, I could be sitting in my living room 10ft from the front door, and they don't even ring the doorbell. they knock quietly.

Then I open the door and find a delivery attempt notice.

Here, UPS is great. FedEx it retarted. The driver goes up and down my street 4-5 times until he finaly stops. Someone needs to buy him some ADHD drugs.

UPS is awful I don't remember but the eBay seller i bought my iBook from claims that UPS or USPS dropped it.

To be fair, since FedEx bought out RPS - FedEx Ground sucks big time.
