I'm moving from a 2006 MBP and can't wait to get an iMac but work are offering to get me a refurb 2011 21.5" model this week but if I turn it down to wait for the 2012 27" model I'll have to fund it myself.

Now the question is how amazingly spectacular will the 2012 model be... I'm wondering if it's worth the gamble over a free 2011 model...

Get the 2011, sell it, boom. Free 2012 model.

By the way, nobody knows how spectacular the 2012 will be, maybe check out the dozen threads on the iMac forum page to browse around.

You have to fund the 2012 model yourself either way, so why wouldn't you say yes to the free refurb? If you decide later you need the latest and greatest, you'll buy it.

Is this a serious post? Hmmm, should I get something for free or pay for the newer model myself, because it will be slightly better. Hmmm.... tough choice.

As this appears to be for work, and a 2006 MBP appears to already be serving your needs, I couldn't argue against a free 2011...

They aren't asking, they are bragging...

Anyone who would actually need to ask this question couldn't use the computer they're getting for free.
