Free Alternative to Adobe Audition?

Hey guys,

I like making mixtapes, a lot. I enjoy mixing sound effects and songs together and adding light effects like fades. Problem is, I can't find any decent free apps to do it! Adobe Audition is perfect, but I'm after something free. Any ideas? APART from Audacity? Really don't like the interface of that app.

Well it's not free, but Reaper is a full fledged DAW for just $40. Definitely worth the investment.

That interface looks gorgeous! Shame it's not on the Mac App Store!
