Hello,

My son has an iPhone 7 that looks pretty close to brand new. It is unlocked and paid off. The owner of the iPhone has agreed to sell it if it can be fixed. They want only want $20 for it. It is his gfs dad's. He ended up purchasing another phone. My son has an iPhone XR. While updating his device firmware he tried to do a restore on the iPhone 7 because he said he was told the device keeps bootlooping. By the time he told me about it I was presented a device that was connected with iTunes open and the phones screen was black with a white apple logo, computer, and plug shown on screen. I tried to turn off the phone and power it back on but was sent to the same screen. I assume this is recovery mode? I read a guide on this problem. It recommended updating the firmware of the device with an ipsw file. I downloaded the proper one and tried to flash it. I get error 1403. I read this could be a problem with the iTunes program itself. ITunes is updated fully. I still get the error. Is there a free alternative to iTunes for updating the firmware?

Thanks,
Rocky
