I am a junior in high school. I got a blackbook in september. I am looking for free applications that do the following:
-Planner for hw etc
-Enter in grades on quizzes etc and calculates my average
-Video editing add effects, pictures in video, video has border around it, chroma key
-Sync Blackberry
-Crossover type application
-Allows me to have a different dock for each space
-Allows me to have startup applications in other spaces
-Catalogs my closet
-Any apps you think I should have

Look at Schoolhouse for those, I think it'll do both.

Unfortunately, not going to be able to do all of that for free probably, though iMovie will do some of it (not the chroma key, and maybe not the borders, but I think the rest of it).

-Sync Blackberry

Don't know of anything, but look into The Missing Sync. Not free, but heard good things about it.

-Crossover type application

WINE, though not for the faint-of-heart. If you have a copy of Windows, try VirtualBox.

-Allows me to have a different dock for each space

Not sure about free, but A-Dock and DragThing are both shareware, so you can use them for a while at least.

-Allows me to have startup applications in other spaces

Not sure what you mean. If you assign an app to a space and then tell it to launch at login, it will start up in that space.

-Catalogs my closet

Maybe the database function of OpenOffice.Org? Any database software will be overpowered but will do what you want.

-Any apps you think I should have

Heh, always a tricky question, since we don't know what you're going to do. I personally can't live without Adium, and GeekTool is a recent discovery of mine. Other than that, just Google for anything else you need. There's lots of stuff out there, and a lot of it free.

Ok right of the bat I LOVE your picture I am a HUGE Firefly/Serenity Fan!!!!!! But to get down to business. I have already tried Schoolhouse and I am using until I find something better. Thanks for the suggestions on the rest. BTW for future repliers, I am a vlogger so any important video software is good. I am also a photographer and graphic designer so anything for those. I am as I already mentioned a student so anything I should have to help with academics or organizing life. I've seen basically any "essential" list and am looking for stuff I can actually use. Also if anyone happens to know of a website then tells you all the stuff you should do when you get a certain gadget (like apps you should download, articles you should read, tips and tricks etc.)

For school I use Circus Ponie's Notebook. http://www.circusponies.com/
I really like it because it allows me to take notes in the Cornell Note Taking Format. However, it can do a lot more things too. (Academic License is 30 bucks.)

In addition, I also use an app called Genius for school. http://web.mac.com/jrc/Genius/ It is sort of like flash cards and helps you memorize and learn things for school. (Genius is free.)

I recommend these websites to learn about gadgets or mac programs:

http://lifehacker.com/

http://www.engadget.com/

http://gizmodo.com/

http://www.tuaw.com/

http://osx.iusethis.com/

http://macapper.com/

And of couse this website ;)
