Free audio editing app.

can someone recommend a free application for editing audio recordings. The recordings are basic, mostly voice recordings from conferences or lectures, but I am desperately in need of editing abilities as soon as someone can help out with the advice. Thanks

awesome I will try it out now. Does the recording have to be in AAC or what format is acceptable?

I heart Audacity.. can't remember if it works with aac..but i'm pretty sure You'll need to convert AAC with something else first.. try Peak or Protools trial. If you mean recording, not importing.. it will record in Wav, and convert to MP3 with the addon
