The reason I need this is for the xbox 360. If you have a flash drive you can watch movies on your tv just through a flash drive. The problem is all my movies are in .avi and they have to be .wmv. Does anyone have any tips?

The XBox 360 can support h.264, and you can convert avi to h.264 with Handbrake.

Edit: although HB doesn't have an Xbox preset, apparently the PS3 settings work.

If you want to convert video to .wmv format on your Mac, then you need the paid version of Flip4Mac and QuickTime Pro.

You can run just about any standard MEPG4 file through the XBox now without any conversion. H.264, DiVX, XViD, etc... Have you tried the file? If it doesn't work, do what the above posters said and convert it using Handbrake.

Would movies on an ipod play? Sorry for these stupid questions.

Edit: Appears they don't. Im trying H.264 works right now.
