What kind of proof is needed or required when I go into an Apple store? They have a back-to-school offer right now (July 2017) for a free pair of Beats with the purchase of qualifying Macs and other items.

So if I'd buy a 27" 5K Mac, what would I need to bring with me to get the free Beats? There's no list of required "proof" or isn't it as difficult to get the discount as I'm imagining? Do I need to bring a student ID with me, or someone who has one, or is it just a matter of asking for the Beats when paying for the iMac?

I never did this, but this offer has me willing to make the 3 hour round trip to the store and upgrading my iMac if I'd be able to get the Beats at the same time.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I've done this in past years, by calling the education number, and by ordering from the edu link on Apple Store web page. No "proof" has been required for any of these purchases, though I did have to select the qualifying school I was attending. For me, this was the local community college.

Just need a student ID. In the early days, we mac specialists would ask incoming frosh to show a letter of acceptance or even a simple class schedule.

I know they do audit sometimes.
