Free iMac G4 Worth It?

My friend wants to give me her iMac G4.

If I get it, is there anything that could be done to improve it?

I don't think the original factory hardwire, and especially no wireless internet connectivity, makes it worth it...unless I can jack it up.

I've done this with PCs but never Macs. I'm a bit uncertain.
 
Dude. IMO the G4 is the prettiest iMac ever created. Take it. Max out the RAM, which is dirt cheap, and maybe upgrade the hard drive. Are you kidding? Hell I'd have one just to use as a lamp.
 
If you don't want it, I do. :p

I gave an eMac 1.25 g4 to my girlfriend, but the her dads wireless router is crap, so she never uses it. I really want it back. :cool:

That's for sure!

I'm awaiting delivery of a 1.25 17", not working, and figure if I can't get it going again I'll just put it on the end of my desk to look purty.

I've already downloaded the service manual and started looking for parts but I've got my fingers crossed it might be a simple fix as the seller hasn't attempted any troubleshooting.
 
Use them for a dedicated music player,they have speakers that you can move around and that's what my cousins do.

It's the older non-swivel iMac. The one with the CRT builtin and is two colors (mine is green and white).

I don't think I can upgrade the RAM or HDD...or make it wireless.
 
If it's fast enough, my school has g3s, it almost made me not want to get a mac because they ran like crap, but then I got to use the macs in the other 2 mac labs then I wanted one again :)
 
Seriously? Is a *free* Mac Mini *worth* it? If someone gave me a free anything that worked, I'd take it.

The only upgrade you can do is RAM, most likely to 1GB on a G4. I never upgraded mine, but there are instructions somewhere on how to open the case.

It's not a Mac Mini.
It's G3 iMac.
 
With with this G3, I can upgrade the RAM and the HDD...install Tiger...AND have wireless connectivity?

If I can't have all four then I'm not getting it...otherwise its mine!
 
Its way out-of-date Unit, U don't want it but I do & will pay shipping charges, contact me !

I was lucky enough to get a free G3 iMac from my school. Only had 10.1 and no wireless connectivity, still went and sold it on gumtree a few months later for £40. Any profit is still a profit. Take the thing and sell it on craigslist or something.
