Current Verizon trade in is $0 for 24 months with eligible trade in. Should I trade in my iPhone XR for a free iPhone 12, or is there a catch?

also to note, I recently broke the back glass on my iPhone XR but I can get it fixed for ~$100. Should I get it fixed and get a free iPhone 12? Or am I missing something here. Should I wait for the 13?

The catch is they are locking you into a contract to pay their higher service fees for two years. Unless you are on a plan with multiple lines and discounts, going with prepaid is always the better option.

Check the link below. You can buy the iPhone 12 for $600 plus tax, and you get a $200 gift card after 3 months of service. No trade in required. It's $40 a month for unlimited, and only $25 a month if you join a party of 4. Your phone is automatically unlocked after 60 days.

Oh interesting. I actually am on a plan with 5 lines so I wonder if I could take advantage of that deal

The only catch is you have to keep your line open until the phone is paid off. Basically they charge you a monthly payment for the phone, while simultaneously giving you a credit, for 24-30 months, whichever you choose

So it’ll look like…

$19.75 monthly charge for the new phone
-$19.75 promo credit
=
$0 total

Yes I am doing the same thing with my iPhone Xr but for the iPhone 13 they are giving you $800 as long as you stay for the 24-30 months. Also the other thing I found out is that you need to be on the high tier plans such as Play More, Do More or Get More Unlimited plans otherwise the trade in value is only $300. I found the details were easier to read on the Best Buy site.
