Don't be such a cheap skate.

Its no wonder prices increase all the time. Part of the reason is people trying to get free stuff when they don't deserve it and have no valid or justifiable reason for getting it. If you have a genuine complaint and they offer you compensation then fair enough otherwise just pay for it out of your own pocket. If you can afford such an expensive product then you can pay for a case.

What price increase have you seen from Apple that you attribute to them giving out free cases?

From what I've read, Apple has given cases for compensation when you call in if someone is experiencing difficulties or problems, or even just general weirdness. I've heard people get cases when their order went from processing to shipping and back to processing, when shipping was 7-10 days even though they pre-ordered right away, etc.

I called yesterday and got one. Told them how verizon screwed up my preorder and I had to order on apple.com late so my delivery is in Oct. I was very polite.

I casually mentioned I wanted to add a case to my order and she suggested that she would give it to me for free. She added it to my order no problem.

Lesson learned don't just ask for a free case. The apple reps know you are doing this and don't like it. Let them suggest it first.

I would say they also read these forums and now its too late to get yours. I'd imagine at least hundreds of you suckers read these post and tried. They probably catch on after a while
