Not sure about this one, but isn't that usally a sign of things to come? I can't imagine that they would update the iPods so incredibly soon though...it's strange!

Wouldn't this reduce resale value on your iPod? I doubt that I would pay the same for a used iPod w/o engraving and a used one w/o it... just a thought I had when I was lookign into getting a new iPod.

That's a good point although I guess it would depend on what has been inscribed. I know some people have had their name and contact information engraved on the back in the event of misplacement although I highly doubt you'll see it again although there are those good samaritans out there. The engraving itself does not hinder the iPods performance and is merely for aesthetics, but I highly doubt it'll bring the resell value down much if at all.
