Free ipod offer only available when buying from Apple?

Best Buy sometimes does it, but it's Apple's deal, so no one else should be expected to do it.

Best Buy will match it... but you can only either do the Student Discount or the Free iPod. So the free iPod is a much better deal if you want to pay full price for the Mac.

Though it depends on the manager.

When I went there, they would only let me get the $100 Student Discount or the free iPod. One or the other.

Also if you buy a higher end Mac, they will consider doing both but instead of a free iPod, you get a $250.00 Gift Card but you have to buy the iPod too.

do you have to be a student to get the free ipod at best buy?
My son is only in high school and apple said he doesnt qualify for the student discount (has to be college).
