Free IPOD Online Rebate Question

I bought a macbook and Ipod touch 8gb yesterday and want to sell the IPOD touch on craigslist so that I can use that money to buy the new 3g IPhone. My question is when using the online rebate process do I need any part of the IPOD touch box, I dont want to sell the thing then find out I can't get my rebate because I needed part of the box.

When I did the rebate last year they needed the UPC cut out.

You don't need any part of the box, just keep your receipt and go to the website. You will need to type in the number on there. Shame the Apple store dude that sold you it didn't tell you

It's a very easy process, I did the rebate information the day I got my MBP and my rebate came exactly 1 week later.

I've seen plenty of people do it online this year. No cutting needed.

In previous years you've always had to cut out the UPCs.

For purchases from an Apple Authorized Campus Store, you must complete the online rebate form, print it out, and mail to Apple Rebates, P.O. Box 1968, Orem, UT 84059.
The envelope must contain: the completed rebate form, a receipt showing all eligible purchases, your UPC labels, and a supplemental receipt (if applicable).

If you buy it directly from , you don't need to cut anything

You're right. I should have said that everyone I've seen or heard of purchasing and getting the rebate have all been at an Apple retail store.

Does anyone know if you HAVE to cut out the box portion for the UPC's this year? There is no mention of it on the forms, whereas it was explicit in previous forms. I already peeled off the ipod upc (it came off really easy) but cut out the one on my macbook because there was no way at all to just peel it off. I just don't want to mess up the rebate, but don't want to cut up my ipod box either. The directions in this case make no mention at all to a box requirement...
