Free iPod with MBP

just wondering which generation comes with the MBP? and is it available online at the apple EDU Store?

also i know the offer isnt currently available but might as well decide now either to wait half a year or just buy another ipod atm.
 
It will come with the current gen iPod. There is usually an update right after the iPod promo ends
 
I don't think you'll get the 4th gen one next year; it will be this current one, since they want to clear out old stock before bringing in the new.
 
I got a macbook pro a month or so ago and i got a SECOND gen touch with it.
Next year it will be a THIRD gen touch.. Not the new one that just came out.

And since they just ended that promotion, i think itll start up again in the spring.
 
No...you probably got the 2nd gen because that was the 8GB model which wasn't updated anyway. the lowest model right now is the updated one with facetime and all the razzmatazz. You will get that one for free.
 
I'm guessing if you get one next Sept. it'll come with a third gen iPod Touch. I got my MBP this past June and it came with a second gen iPod Touch.

That is incorrect, it will be the 4th gen, no doubt about it. You got the 2nd gen because the 8GB model was never updated in 2009 when the 3rd gen 32GB and 64GB models were released; Apple kept production of the 2nd gen 8GB model to keep costs down. That is the only reason you got a model with 2nd gen specs - simply because there was no 8GB 3rd gen. As Apple doesn't do this whole mixing of generations anymore, and have updated the entire line to have identical specs, there is no reason why they would offer the 3rd gen next year (especially when, as I have said, an 8GB 3rd gen never existed and Apple would never give away a much more expensive iPod [32GB] with this offer).
 
wait wait wait, so how does this work out? like once i buy the ipod they give me a rebate code for the price of a 8gb model?? what if i get like 16gb???

Promotion usually runs from sometime in the first week of may to the first week of september in the Northern hemisphere. I believe in the Southern hemisphere it follows a different schedule.

To the OP - as others have said, you will be getting the 8gb 4th gen touch for free; if you want to get the 32 GB or the 64 GB, you will have to pay the additional 70, and 120 dollars + tax, respectively,
 
oh forgot to ask; is this offer available online too? or will i have to buy the mbp from the apple store next year??

It's available through Apple online or retail store, but I think you have to send the rebate form through Apple's site
