Bought myself a 5s this morning. Activated, restored from iCloud backup and never got the prompt for the free apps. If I go to the app store they still charge for them. Any ideas on how to get the free apps?

My experience.

I restored from iCloud, afterwards I checked on the App Store and the apps were listed FREE. No problems downloading them.

I guess you have to visit the app store via your phone not your desktop

I did install the free apple apps and they work fine but when I check the app store they still show up with a price tag for purchase - strange indeed

Kill the app store and see if that changes them having a price tag -> free.

If that doesn't work, kill the app store and restart your phone.

These steps eventually did it for me. Took awhile though as Numbers, then iLife stuff kept showing a price tag instead of free.

Make sure you are on the "product page". When searching, the listed apps did show a price. But when I clicked and view say numbers it was listed free.

well you just have to hit the app store button on your 5s and then it automatically ask you if you want to download the iwork suite. Worked fine for me

Anyone else getting a reboot on iPhone 5s if keep a sheet open, but exit out of numbers?

For me, I just loaded my backup into my phone, clicked the app store button, and something popped up telling me I could download a bunch of apps for free

Strange, I went to the App Store and it says Keynote is free for me.

I can't seem to get iWork for free on my 5S. Restored from iCloud backup from iPhone 5. Rebooted, reloaded App Store several times etc. Still shows up $9.99 per app. Same on my wife's iPhone 5S (same account).

Any ideas? :)

*edit*

Working on my wife's and as soon as I downloaded it on them on her phone, they're available for free on mine. All's well.

Shows as $9.99 in iTunes but free from my new 5S. Was never prompted to download them but i restored from a backup before doing anything else. Downloading them now.

I just went into the App Store and they were all listed as Free.

I had the same issue, what resolved it for me was to make a backup on my computer and then do a clean iOS 7 install. When I opened up the app store for the first time on the clean install I was able to download them for free. Afterwards I restored from my backup.

A little convoluted to get the apps but I had the spare time.

I got the initial prompt, but clicked not not or whatever the wording was. When I tried later it prompted for a price.

Just ended up restoring the phone and going through the process again. Worked without issue.
