Anyone have any idea how the iWork suite is going to be free on new iOS devices? The school I teach at is going to be purchasing a poop-load of iPads next fall and I know that, according to Apple, they will have the suite installed, but is it part of the software, download code in the box? How will the perform such magic?

AFAIK any new device activated for the first time after sept 1 will get the apps tied to the iOS device appleID.

For any device activated after SEP 1, 2013 that is running iOS 7 first time you go into App Store (if it's a new device) a pop up window comes up suggesting you download all apples free apps. There is a download all you can hit. Sign in with Apple ID and they start installing.
