Do anyone know which one of the free office programs for the mac offer the most compatibility with MS office files. I not looking for the same features as office and really only need simple functions of word and excel but I would like to be able to open all the MS office files that people send me.
Thanks

LibreOffice is a great free alternative. That being said, if you have to do a lot of complex documents, MS Office may be your only option. Check out LibreOffice is free and a great alternative to get by with. It is what I use most.

I'd say if you're looking for free office alternatives, then LibraOffice is the one to look at and try.

I've used Open Office since I got my MBP in 2011. Works just fine for me.
