Just a heads up for people experiencing the flaking off of the antiglare coating on 2013/2014 Macbook pros. My understanding is the free repair program was extended for 1 year last October, which means it's probably ending soon.
Does anyone else know for sure? Please chime in.
I procrastinated getting it done but I just got mine back today with a new display assembly which includes a new aluminum top case with apple logo (Yay!). My black plastic hinge cover was cracked and they replaced that as well (nice!). No dead pixels on mine. I think Apple is pretty strict with the quality of its Retina displays.
Anyway, for those putting it off, I suggest getting it done ASAP in case the program expires at the end of this month. If you live near an Apple store, just make an appointment with the genius bar. No need to call Apple first. They did my repair onsite but I had to come back 3 days later to pick it up. I've heard they do a mail in service as well.
Love my "new" laptop! btw it's a 15" mid 2014 MB Pro.
