Free .SIT program..

AFAIK they are closed formats and you can't make alternatives. Encourage people to use tar/zip/dmg.

I think he's looking for an alternative to stuffit expander, which is kind of crappy software. Unfortunately, I don't know of any that will open SIT or SITX files.

Stuffit Expander is free. No one ever handled Stuffit archives better than Stuffit. No one can beat the price of Stuffit Expander. Download and install Stuffit Expander if you need to decompress Stuffit archives.

I have to agree. While Stuffit may not be the best way to compress a file out there, the program itself doesn't do a bad job.


What do people find so bad about the program itself? I'd never compress a file to a .sit, but I've never had a problem unstuffing one.

Thanks guys.. I needed it because I had to unstuff a .sitx file.. I could care less what program I use as long as it works..

And Stuffit is free to try.. $49.99 to buy.. I was kinda looking for an alternative freeware as to where I can keep it on my system and it wont ask me to buy or register it later on..

And I agree.. propietary software sux...

stufit expander is free and you can keep it on your system, the $50 liscense is for Stuffit Deluxe which you would need if you wanted to compress files to the .sit format.

I found a free version. It's called StuffitDeluxe10.dmg.torrent I'm just kidding folks. Software piracy is wrong.
