I've been searching google for a while but all the methods don't work anymore. Is there a way to download youtube video so i can edit it with iMovie? I am using 10.5.8 and prefer Firefox.

Thanks in advance.

clicktoflash works in Safari (right click, choose download video), and has other benefits.
I think the one I used to use for firefox was ant video downloader? Give that a try? I think it put a little button in the toolbar or something

well
the easiest way is to open safari and download it from the activity monitor
although it downloads as a .flv

1 Open the video you want in safari
2 click on Window>Activity
3 Then chose the heading of the youtube video
4 Find the one that has the biggest file size(its usually in megabytes)
5 Double click and it'll download the vid

Works for any website

if you want the vid in any other format just use Handbrake...

I read this when i was searching. However; it will download but it's 0mb. Does the video have to finish loading?

I am using video downloader for firefox now. Hope it will work.

Thanks

no the video doesnt have to finish download but it should load a bit...

well, i've downloaded many videos from youtube and i dont have a single problem...

i think that it works with all versions of safari(or maybe 4 and up)
so it might not be a version problem

FWIW, I have a Safari extension that allows YouTube video downloading. Over the last week or so, it's been a little hit-and-miss. It's usually very reliable, so I'm wondering if YouTube has changed something that makes the extension buggy.

I don't know if it's related to your downloading trouble or not, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

P.S. I tried two separate extensions, and both are suffering from the same problems.

iTubeX. It has a dedicated button that integrates with your web browser of choice. Just click it when you want to download the video.
