Hi I just discovered this:

When your 12 months of Free Web and WiFi runs out, simply purchase an iPhone 3g Sim Card from eBay for about £4.

Activate the Free Web and Wifi for 12 months on the new sim by topping up £10.

Then transfer your old number over using this form o2 Number Transfer

Pop the new Sim into your iPhone!

All Done, another 12 months of Unlimited Internet for FREE!

its not free if you have to pay £4 every year!

£4 EVERY year? I'm not paying that. It's outrageous! :D

LOL...it's rediculous!

I think you can go into a O2 store and just ask for a Pay and Go iPhone SIM, just for the old iPhones for when people upgraded.

That's a point, you could be right.

Anyone know for sure whether you can do this without any sort of proof that you need it for an iPhone that you are passing on to someone else?

They at least used to have a seperate iphone sim to be sold without phone for second hand inheriters, which did not include the free data.

Only problem with this that I can potentially see is that I'm pretty sure these SIM cards have to be activated by a certain date. I'll go and check the one that came with my PAYG iPhone 3G in March to get a rough time. If it's long enough I'll most certainly end up buying another of these!

EDIT: My SIM which as stated above was bought in March, expires on 10th January 2010. Would still be ideal even if it got just 9 months of free Web and WiFi bolt-on.
