I recently bought an Ipod touch 8gb, 1.1.4. I am really happy with it:D.
(I knew there was an ipod refresh ahead but I got a pretty good deal it:cool:)
When I entered Itunes for the first time I noticed this:

does it mean the update is free (for me, and others who recently bought an Ipod touch) when it comes out?

I already know that people who paid $20 for the 1.1.4 update are getting the 2.0 update for free.

Cheers,

ok, thanks for the feedback. It is $10 anyway, it would be cool though.

Although the 'software upgrade' text doesn't mean you will get a free upgrade, I don't think there's been any official word whether Touches purchased in the vicinity of the upgrade period might be eligible for an upgrade. Otherwise, I might expect to see something other than 'ships in 24 hours' for the Touch in the Apple store online.

yeah, you're probably right. though the 2.0 update is not some spur of the moment thing, apple could have taken the time for the upgrade.

If you bought an iPod touch within the two week period before today, you may qualify for free iPod touch 2.0 upgrade....

This is what happened when Apple released 1.1.3 upgrade, everyone who bought the iPod touch 2 weeks prior to that update recieved the free software upgrade as part of price protection that Apple offers....

so if I were you, take the iPod touch back to the Apple store, ask the genius, and they may be able to reimburse the $10 fee for the 2.0 upgrade....

doubtful given my experience with Apple cust service that I documented in other thread.

lol, never mind I downloaded a "free" version when it was up for like half an hour.

that was the a345 built, the final built is a347.

after that i got my hands on a347 and from a347 I upgraded to 2.0.1

Just wait a while and I bet it will be downloadable for free, Apple always gives way XD!
