Hi all, I was looking for a freeware app for finding duplicate files. I have a lot of backups on my HD right now and a lot of the files are duplicates but I want to be able to decide which ones I want to delete (ie I don't want the program doing it automatically for me). Came across a couple (Mr. Clean & DupeNuker) but I wasn't so sure about them. Was wondering if anyone has tried these and if they work ok or if you could recommend something else that you've had experience with. Thanks a lot.

Amazed

No one has ever tried to get rid of duplicate files on their mac(s)? I guess I'll make a complete backup before I try these software options out. Was hoping someone could give their 2¢ on the process

Find

Whelp - it's not perfect, but...

You could try doing a search for all files greater than, say, 1MB, sort them by name, and scan down the list. If you run into two rows with the same name, same modification date, and same size, you can look into if it's a dup.

And anything smaller than 1MB, who cares. :)

HTH
