I have a few movies that use the Divx 3.11 alpha codec. I've installed Perian, but quicktime still doesn't like it. I installed 3ivx as well, and that worked. The problem now is that I've run through the trial period, and I'm not interested in paying for something like this.

Does anyone know of a freeware codec that works with quicktime and Divx 3?

Delete all codecs you manually installed yourself, then perian will work properly. Problems occur when you have two codecs for the same file type. The DivX codec installed by Toast will mess up perian as well.

These codecs I know for sure don't conflict with perian and should NOT be deleted:
AC3MovieImport.component
AppleIntermediateCodec.component
AppleMPEG2Codec.component

If you also have flip4mac installed the following codecs should NOT be deleted:
Flip4MacWMVAdvanced.component
Flip4MacWMVImport.component
Flip4MacWMVExport.component

The macam.component if you have macam installed will NOT conflict will perian as well.

Thanks, Munkery. When I opened another QT video, Perian found an update to 1.1.3. I've installed, and it seems all is right with the world.
