Freezing and audio issues during gameplay under Bootcamp.

So when I am playing a game (e.g. Left 4 Dead or Team Fortress 2) for a period of time I'll get a freeze with repeating audio and sometimes audio switching from headphones to speakers. At first I thought this may be overheating so I got something to crank the fans up to full but it seems to be doing this more than ever even with the fans running full blast. A mate said it could be HD issues? Any advice?

Running a early 08 Macbook Pro, Bootcamped to XP SP3.
