I did a manufacturer restore, then started to sync the apps (I have close to 200). I saw that iTunes put all of them on the homescreen and they all have "waiting..." in the status instead of the name. Then my phone froze and itunes reported that it failed to sync. There was no way I could do anything with the phone other than another restore! It was crawling and freezing...

So did anyone succeed in syncing hundreds of apps all at once? Is this a known limitation of itunes?

I haven't got that many apps lol so I haven't. The problem could be that you only get 9 pages of Apps on your home screen and when the iPhone restores the Apps back to it it doesn't put them in folders. Use iTunes to re-sync some Apps at a time and put them in folders

I tried that also and turns out itunes can only handle 15-20 apps at a time (or some combined size).
