Freezing problems

Hi everyone,

My Mac freezes more and more for example whenever I want to write
a hotmail message there is always a freeze at the beginning but also
it freezes while I watch movies in a browser, still displaying the sound
but picture all the other browsers windows freeze for minutes at times.

I am using a Macbook,mac osx 10.5.8 and safari

Any helpful tips, anyone..?
