Frequent crashes on iPhone 3GS w/ iOS 4.0.2

I've been experiencing frequent crashes in pretty much all of the applications I use, often but not always at launch. This includes both Apple and third-party apps. I've tried restoring through iTunes twice with no effect. Is this a known problem, or should I hit the Genius Bar?

I don't know if this is a known problem but ever since the iphone software 4 + came out my phone's (3GS) performance is shocking. Slow, crashes a lot, closes applications before they've even opened, takes ages to load stuff like contacts and emails. Has even dropped a call once. Very very annoyed but I think my phone is out of warranty so not sure what Apple will do?
